Sarah Nelson is a picture book writer and poet. Her stories and poems explore a variety of themes, but Sarah especially loves writing about nature, the little (oh, so real) dramas of childhood, and quirky, lesser-known moments in American history. Whether playful or soulful, poetry or prose, Sarah strives for humor, a sense of wonder, and that musical read-aloud-ability that makes a great picture book sing.
When Sarah is not writing, she teaches English to adult immigrants and refugees and feels lucky to have some of the very nicest students in the world. Sarah also enjoys cooking, reading, and taking rambling walks with her husband in the parks around their Minnesota home. In fact, she gets some of her best story ideas while outside rambling.
